I found them while shopping

Couldn’t understand why –

Five marzipan piglets

All lined up to buy.

 

I asked my Swede boyfriend

The reason and rhyme.

He said, “because Swedes

eat pork at Christmas time.”

 

I thought he was kidding

Or just didn’t know

Of Nordic traditions

From decades ago.

 

I ventured to Google

And to his delight:

Upon further inspection

I found he was right.
