There are days that call for salads and fruits, and there are days that call for the richest, thickest, most decadent cake in the shop. And 7-11 makes some decadent cakes. I suspect that this one is made exclusively of butter, sugar, and matcha (green tea) powder, and I am loving it. In fact, cake seems like the wrong label for it – it’s much more akin to a dense loaf of fudge than a fluffy slice of cake and there is so much matcha powder mixed in that it can easily dye your hands, lips, and pocket handkerchief an attractive green color. It’s not the kind of thing you can eat every day – it’s probably not the kind of thing that you should eat at all, except to counteract the effects of a particularly enthusiastic tapeworm – but every once in a while, it’s exactly what you need.
