At this point, I have never eaten a Bakewell tart, but I’ve eaten many things that are supposed to taste like Bakewell tarts. As far as I can tell, the original pastry is something akin to a pie made of jam and almond paste, and if it tastes anything like its imitations, it is something that I absolutely want to get my hands on. After all, it’s hard to go wrong with almond! It does seem a little odd that there are no actual almonds in this nākd Bakewell tart bar, but they’ve done the job admirably with dates, cashews, and raisins. It has a wonderful almond and cherry flavor that really does hit the spot.
